While we cannot predict with certainty the lifespan of the excess gas production, we are leveraging our experience from operating landfills across the country, working closely with the Ohio EPA and other regulators, multiple consultants and contractors to further reduce and control odors coming from the site.
Stony Hollow Landfill is investing substantial resources, expertise and time into controlling and containing odors. We have completed several construction projects and these projects will help to address the odor issues. The projects include an extensive new gas well and piping network, additional gas flare system, upgrades to liquid and gas collection lines and an odor control barrier over a portion of the landfill.
